Through his mentors, he played tennis against Byron Black in Bulawayo way back in the colonial era when it was still unheard for blacks to mix with white people.
While studying at the University of Zimbabwe he met the love of his life. Apostle Charles and Apostle Petunia later got married on the 11th of December 1982.
He is a holder of a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Agriculture, a Management Development Program (MDP) Diploma, both from the University of Zimbabwe, as well as many Diplomas and certificates including Christian Ministry, Leadership, Evangelism Explosion, Training of Trainers and Corporate Governance. His vocational achievements include raising many sound professionals, business people and Pastors. He became a leader at a very young age, initiating fast growing home groups at his Thokozane Flats home from the age of 16; being the Chairman of the Scripture Union and deputy Head boy at Mzilikazi High. He discipled many of his generation, also many younger and older than him.
He was born again in 1974 a year in which he answered the call of God upon his life. In his final year of University, as Chairman of the CU, young Charles Chiriseri invited the famous Kenyan Joe Kayo, with whom he founded Family of God Church through Crusades at the UZ, Rufaro Stadium and Bulawayo Stadiums. He coopted Henry Muzhari in Bulawayo, who was then working at Bethel Fellowship in 6th Avenue.. As he was still at uni, Charles handed the church to the then Brother Andrew Wutawunashe who at that time was running Youth Witness Ministries, a youth evangelism that university students used to support. The church started strong with many young graduates, hosting power-packed hotel Teaching Clinics at the Great Indaba Room, Monomatapa Crown Plaza in 1981 when hotels were a novelty to black people.
